A Bowl of Beans
Apr 12, 2026 • Pastor Jason Duff
In this message from Genesis 25, we meet the twin sons of Isaac — Esau and Jacob — and watch as Esau makes one of the most shortsighted trades in all of Scripture, selling his entire birthright for a single bowl of beans. It's a vivid picture of how we as believers can forfeit the incredible inheritance that is ours in Christ — love, joy, peace, and an eternity as joint heirs with Jesus — in exchange for whatever temporarily feeds our flesh in the moment. We close with a challenge drawn from Hebrews 12: the difference between Esau and the great men of faith wasn't the absence of sin, but the presence of an altar — a sacred, private place in the heart where God is welcomed, and where repentance, worship, and transformation can take root.
