Each of us have been served by faithful volunteers at Calvary Vista; whether through greeters, Sunday School teachers, amazing breakfast burritos in the Calvary Courtyard, security in the parking lots, or helping hands for events. We rely on a community of volunteers who love Jesus and love to serve his church. If you consider Calvary Vista your home, we encourage you to volunteer! By doing so, you’re an essential part of helping others meet Jesus.
Opportunities to Serve
Do you enjoy putting on your best smile and making others feel welcome? Then this is the team for you! We need greeters, both men and women, young and old alike, at all of the weekly services to greet those who come through the doors of our church.
The Parking Ministry is perfect for friendly, behind-the-scenes people with the spiritual gifts of helps and service. Parking Team volunteers are vital to the church ministry and are the first impression to those attending the weekly services. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to have you. Both men and women are welcome!
We invite you to be part of the Kids’ Ministry, an excellent opportunity to teach and train these little sheep to become Jesus kids! These are spiritually impressionable years when kids are hungry to learn, skills are developing, and value systems are being formed. We also need extra hands in the classrooms to assist teachers. We are looking for passionate people who love children, have a solid walk with the Lord, and see the great value in investing in the next generation. Note: A screening process and background check are required.
Do you enjoy working with tech and have a heart to serve the Lord and His people? The Media Ministry is looking for faithful people to join the team! There are opportunities to serve Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, Saturday evenings, and in the Women’s Ministry. Areas of service/needs are running cameras, operating lights, running worship lyrics, running sound, and helping with stage set-up for services. Note: Training is provided.
Capturing beautiful images and videos of the life and ministry of our church family is a blessing to everyone. If you are gifted in either photography or videography and would like to get involved, we would love to connect with you and talk about various opportunities.
Lifting someone’s burden in a practical way is a simple yet powerful ministry. Our Women’s Ministry would like to introduce you to our Love in Action Meals Ministry. In times of need, a friendly and warm smile and a tasty meal is good medicine and is an excellent way to connect with and support those from our church family. Our heart is to provide meals to families and individuals who may not be connected to a small group Bible Study, Home Fellowship, or do not have family or friends nearby.
Church Office Volunteer Team
Warm and friendly people are needed to help answer questions and take phone calls in the office before, during, and after services on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve, connect with, and get to know your church family.
Courtyard Hospitality Volunteer Team
Help promote fellowship before and after Sunday services by joining the Hospitality Team. We love serving our family in Christ with the joy of the Lord and donuts, breakfast burritos, coffee, and specialty drinks every Sunday. Areas of service are cashier, helpers, and baristas.
Church Event Hospitality Team
Calvary Vista hosts many events during the year and we are blessed to have the ability to prepare delicious meals on site. If you enjoy food prep and service and sweet fellowship with like-minded volunteers, we would love to have you on the team.
Be The Church
According to Vista Unified School District, there are over 2,500 homeless students in Vista. Some families live on the streets, in city parks, in their cars, or shelters. Many share a home with three or four families combined. One particular elementary school in the district has approximately 250 students surviving in these conditions. We have an incredible opportunity to “Be The Church” by providing bags filled with healthy food items for homeless children to take home over the weekends to help sustain and bless them and their families. The cost to fill one bag is approximately $20, and you have a choice of providing the food on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. A list of suggested items for grocery shopping is provided. Once purchased, simply drop food items by the church during your scheduled week(s). We deliver the food to the schools, and they will fill backpacks and distribute them to the students.
Solutions for Change Meal Team
Join a team of volunteers from Calvary Vista who help provide dinners for families at Solutions for Change, an organization that lifts families and communities out of darkness and into independence. With community-focused solutions, Solutions for Change is fighting back against the churn of poverty and homelessness to transform lives and restore community. We request a one-year commitment to a rotating team that delivers a meal once a month to the Intake and Access Center across the street from the church at 5:00 PM. You can help serve the meal, which is preferable, as we can interact with the residents and invite them to church, or you can drop the meal off.
Gaius Missions Yard Sale Team
Gaius Missionary Services is a ministry that seeks to join missionaries and their church’s needs with people in the church body who want to help. One of the practical ways that Guais raises funds for this purpose is by hosting large yard sales in the parking lot at Calvary Vista. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, running the sale, tear down, and clean-up. The yard sale is an excellent opportunity for individuals and families alike to shine the light and love of Jesus to our neighbors. All proceeds benefit missions and missionaries worldwide.
Good News Club
Become part of the opportunity to share the Gospel in local elementary schools through Bible lessons, action-packed songs, scripture memory, games, activities, and to give an invitation to trust in Jesus as Savior. Whether leading in-person groups or online, this is a fantastic opening to pour the Good News into the hearts of children!
